Task Permissions - Ability to restrict some parts of the Dashboard?

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hi Community,

I've just tried to set up a client so they can have access to edit and run the back end of their site.

1. If I set a new user up and put them in a group, they don't get access to the dashboard at all - I take it they have to be in the admin group to access dashbaord?

So, I'm just wondering if there is a way that you can restrict what items they can see or touch in the Dashboard if they are an admin?

I've added them to the group admin, and also added their username to the tasks.

For example, I would like them to be able to access the file manager, run system backups, look at the stats and SEO manager etc, but I DON'T want them to be able to access Permissions & Access, Pages & Themes, or be able to extend or connect to the C5 community - the check boxes are pretty limited in the Tasks, is there a way that you can add more Dashboard items to the Tasks list?

Version 5.5 by the way...

Cheers

Hi PatrickCassidy,

Permissions had been overhauled in 5.6 so I recommend you upgrade.

Hey Sarah

Thanks for your reply. I have already resolved the issue, by showing system files in the sitemap, then going through the dashbaord pages one by one to set permissions.

I couldn't upgrade the version due to the site being handed over to the client the same day - no room for chance of any stuff-ups!
