either you can go with the ecommerce addon with the digital downloads addon or, you can go with jim's which doesn't cost as much and i personally think its better, as long as you don't want a super complicated checkout process

The eCommerce package is $95 and the eCommerce Digital Downloads addon is a further $45...

The eCommerce option features a cart for multiple simultaneous purchases and two payment gateways including PayPal. With the eCommerce system you can also sell non digital items.

My PayPal Digital Delivery package is $20... my package has no cart, so items are purchased singularly and mine only works with Paypal. I do however support both standard and encrypted web payments.

Both packages support obfuscated download links and employ IPN checking, but mine also makes use of an additional download key emailed to the user.

You can try eCommerce here...

So the options are $125 + $45 for the eCommerce solution which has a lot more features overall but is more complicated

OR

$20 for the Paypal Digital Delivery Add-on?

So $170 vs $20, correct?

-------

Follow-up question: If a client wanted to have a Membership page FULL of e-books which was password protected and required a paid Membership login and password, which is the best solution for that?

After looking closer at Paypal Digital Delivery add-on, it appears it's mostly just for ordering 1 digital file at a time, but I am not really sure.

You're certificate has expired on the Sandbox 'user experience' PayPal test. It just redirects you to your(my) PayPal account.
Thought you might like to know.
Thanks
