Pre-Sale-Question: Performance of larger galleries
Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi,
i have two questions that seem not to be covered by the docs:
1) Large galleries require a lot of thumbnails to load on a page, so how does Isotope Gallery Lite handle the loading of a larger number of thumbnails? Is there a kind of lazy loading functionality or are all thumbnails getting loaded at once?
2) Is there a way to force Isotope Gallery Lite to display even thumbnails in Retina quality?
Thank you,
Michael

Let me answer your questions below:
1) For large galleries, the only drawback could be generating the thumbnails for the first time. After that you shouldn´t have problems as the add-on indeed has lazy loading js plugin for images. Also with block cache enabled, once the block is added and thumbnails are generated should be fast enough. PS. How many images are you thinking of? Give us an aproximate number and we can run a test to give you a more accurate answer.
2) We haven´t added support for the block to display thumbnails in retina quality yet. Let us evaluate your suggestion and come up with a time frame for you to include it in the following version ok?
