Question about Retrieving the content of an Area (using Page_List) split with Area Splitter

Hi Matt,

I had submitted this as a Pre-Sales question about Area Splitter the other day, but wanted to follow up to see if you had any input.

Thanks!

I might be interested in using the Area Splitter block in a new project I'm working on, but have sort of a unique question.

I will be using a page_list block to retrieve the content from "Main" area of the child pages of a page in my site. These child pages need to be able to have any number of columns... and I want the content to display in the page_list the way it does on the individual child page.

I was originally thinking that I would be able to have my client use Layouts to add as many columns as they needed. But I have been reading on the Concrete5 forums (see here:http://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/customizing_c5/how-to-get... ) that when you try to retrieve the area in the page_list, it returns nothing if it contains a layout.

Is this also true of your Area Splitter Block? If I use code in my page_list template like this:
$a = new Area('Main');
$a->disableControls();
$a->display($page);

Will it work? Or will I have the same issue as if the Area contained a Layout?

Thanks, in advance, for your response!

Cheers,
- John
