Started programming the very basics, but did not make choice of jQuery plugin yet. Also, what do you want this field type to return? Simple HEX code (#efefef), or without the hash tag, or you want something totally different? Not sure as when the color/hex code will be used, in what scenario (without coding at all).

A simple hex code could work, but would be nice to have RGBA values. I think the spectrum color picker has all the options.

Yeah, that seemed to me one of the best as well.

Seeing you want a HEX code OR rgba, it would be best to choose from within the field type. So users can make a choice, instead of me either returning HEX/rgba automatically.

Will keep you posted on the development. Got other stuff on my plate as well, so will have to put it on the to-do!
