Page creation

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi
Is there a way that the block creator can add pages to a C5 site? Or drafts for approval?
Like if I create a form type block with name, description, etc and some page attribute fields, can it create the pages/drafts?
Kind of duplicating composer features but on the front end so users don't have to see any of the background stuff.

Hi Adam,

Totally missed this question! Not sure what you mean with block designer creating pages? What is the connection with blocks here, can you explain please? If you have a use-case or example, would be nice. Perhaps I can build it in, but not sure if this belongs to a "block" designer, that's why I would need some more details.

Sorry for the late reply.

Kind regards,

Ramon

Hi Ramon

No worries, got tied up myself to be honest.
Ye I kind of jumped the gun a bit I think, I didn't really have a real understanding of your add on before I asked the question, but read more after it and realised I was probably a bit off.

But basically what I was looking for was more a form designer that allows for page creation on submission, or draft creation. It's composer functionality for the front end. I thought your addon might be able to create a block that shows a form but think I am a bit off.
I know you can do some of this with proforms/advanced forms, but they are a little complicated for my liking. I think what I am after really is a composer block, so you add the block, and in the settings it allows you to pick page type, location to create pages/drafts, page attributes to include etc. or maybe have all that in the dashboard and leave that out of the front end. could use custom templates etc then to style the forms.

Sorry for rambling, I know I'm way off, and could probably accomplish this with a forms addon, or single pages, or hacking something like problog or something.
Sorry for wasting your time! I can explain exactly the end product and reasoning if anything has got your interest. But no worries if not!!

Hey Adam,

So you want to create a page anywhere on the website using a form, and you select where to put it and all that kinda stuff that already is in composer? Some sort of duplicate or... Without any backend? This is because you don't want users to go in through the backend? Figuring out what you're trying to achieve here haha. Not sure if it's speeding up any website/pages creation though, but I might not get your whole idea behind this (yet) - sorry!

Kind regards,

Ramon

Ha.
Ye, I don't want people using the backend. the idea really is duplicating some of the functionality of reorting systems that are available..
Allow users(or visitors) fill in a form and a draft is created, admin can then approve etc and the page is published. You can then use different page lists to filter etc.
Or another scenario, you have a website that lists businesses or job postings, allow users fill in and once approved the page is published.
Rather than a C5 dashboard/composer you could add to any page on the site.
So the addon would allow admin to create the form (using whatever attributes they want) or multiple forms for different sections of site. Then easily add the block to whatever page works best.
i was thinking a block would be good because you could use a custom template to add in something like a google map with drag/drop pin to input latitude/longitude.
Hope that makes sense. I know probably well off your addon, but I can see huge potential for smething like it. And yes, form addon can do it kind of, but something real specific, composer based I think would be great. I have at least 6 different applications i would use it for straight away.
And thanks for listening to my rambling!!

Hi Adam,

But then again, you would require a backend of entered forms, right? Because otherwise you don't know what pages have been posted. Perhaps you can make some project description and throw it in the forums? Perhaps we as a community can talk about it and develop it! :) Block designer really isn't about creating pages/drafts at all, it's all about blocks within a page/area. The functionality you want, will have to be build in a separate standalone package!

Kind regards,

Ramon

Hi Ramon

Ye you're right. I knew pretty quickly i was well off with your addon.
Might be a good one to work on. When I get some time I might draw it out a little more and develop the idea. See if I can put it into a more specific package idea.
Thanks anyway for your time.

Adam
