Hello,
For Block Designer 3.1.0 short syntax array are used so you need at least PHP 5.4.0 to use it, please tell this in your addon documentation.
My web host uses PHP 5.3.27 so I must revert back to an older version, it's a pain...

Hello,
Thanks for your answer and information.
I've managed to revert back to an older version.
For future updates, I will ask my web host for a newer PHP.
Thank you for your good job :-)

Sorry if this made things complicated for you. You could still revert to an older version of Block Designer, which hasn't got the short array syntax. Version 2.8 still uses the old array syntax for your information.
Since concrete5 version 8 (and higher) require PHP 5.5.9 - I made this change. Didn't know hosters were actually still using this (very) old PHP version. Can't you ask your hosting to let you choose a PHP version?
Kind regards,
Ramon
