Cannot create new post

I have followed all the instructions and am trying to create a new blog post. However, when I click on the 'New Post' button, I'm taken to a 'This page isn't working' page (error 500). I'm at a loss as to what might've caused this.

I'm using a custom theme, so maybe I'm missing a page template that y'all reference? I have a default.php page template, but for the blog, I'm using a custom blog.php template that I've created.

Everything else seems to be in order, and I've no issues with setup other than this.

One thing comes to mind... Do your theme have a view.php (mandatory for all themes)?

If not then please create this according to documentation:

Adding Content to the Single Page View Template

Single pages are wrapped by the "view.php" template for the current theme. This means you don't need to include header or footer information within your single page - it is already present.

In a stock concrete5 site, try opening concrete/themes/elemental/view.php. This is the wrapper for all the single pages within the Elemental theme. Notice the line? That's where all the single page content will be inserted within this template.

This file has to have the following line of code:

<?php print $innerContent; ?>

Hi Michael,

Thank you for the response. I added view.php to my theme (using the view.php file from the Elemental theme as a guide), reinstalled/reactivated my theme and uninstalled and re-installed the C5DK Blog addon (following all the steps to make sure I wasn't missing anything). However, I'm still having the same problem.

Any other thoughts as to what might be causing this issue? While the site is already live (they requested a blog after the launch of the website), I can provide access to it if you need it to help diagnose the issue.

I did notice that the Elemental theme uses bootstrap, which I am not using in my theme. Not sure if that would effect anything though.

Sorry you have this kind of trouble getting started.

For anyone with this issue, Michael and I determined that I needed to upgrade from 8.1 to 8.2.1. This solved the problem. I'm not sure what the issue was, but upgrading was the solution.

Also, make sure you've backed everything (properly) before upgrading!
