  3. Using the C5DK User Validation

Please view the video screencast, if any misunderstandings.

1. Installation

The package installation occurs as a normal concrete5 add-on installation. You can purchase the package directly from your dashboard or purchase it on the marketplace and upload it to the packages folder via FTP, and then install the package from the dashboard installation page.

2. Setting up the package

During the setup, please, follow the steps:.

(A). Go to the "Systems & Settings" Public Registration page:

…and verify the "approve manually" is sat to "On". In addition, you should supply an email address to your own mail account to be able to receive user registration alerts. It is also a good idea to turn on captcha.

(B). Go to user groups in the dashboard.

You should create some user groups (minimum one user group). You will later want new validated users to be members of such.

Ex. “Can write in the forum”, “User can blog” or “User will receive newsletter”.

(C). Setup the C5DK User Validation

Go to the settings page:

Please tick the attributes that you need to see on the top left part of the validator page. You should only tick the attributes that you think is necessary to see to be able to validate a new user.

You also need to tick the user groups in the right side to which users will be added when validated. You have the option to choose the user groups as checked as default on the validator page.

It is a good idea to setup the validation email receipt that the user will receive when validated.

3. Using the C5DK User Validation

The validation list page is where you decide which users you allow to enter your website as member.

New users have a white background, and all the information and settings that you did on the settings page is available here.

You will always see the username and email address, but the attributes displays only those attributes that you selected on the settings page. The same applies to the user groups available for you to assign to the users.

You have three options when validating a user:

  1. Simply validate the user (green button). That will trigger a few events as adding the user in to the user groups, setting the user active and sending an email receipt to the user explaining that the user is now validated and active.
  2. Validate later option (yellow button). When using the "validate later" option, you are actually parking the user for later validation. As you will see, the users that you will validate later, will get a yellow background, and this indicate that the user is parked for later validation. This option gives you both some time to think about the validation and the list will always give you a clear view of where the user are in the validation process.
  3. Delete the user (red button). This option is for kicking out a user that you simply do not believe will be good for you website. Remember it is you who decide who has access to your website.

That is all there is to it..

We wish you a great validation experience...
