Unable to (or not wanting to) remember all coding within Concrete5 or “just” a designer? Code Helper will be able to help you out. Choose a type you’re looking for under “Code Helper Type” and change the form to fit your needs. When you’re done filling in the form, hit “Generate the code!” and Code Helper will generate the code you need. It’s really as simple as that.
The most used Code Helper Type should be “Area”. If you’re converting your HTML/CSS into a Concrete5 theme, go to this Add-On and enter an Area Name (and check the checkbox “Global Area”, if you want this area on each page). Hit enter and copy it to your clipboard and paste it straight into your theme. Making a theme was never this easy.
There are a few Code Helper Types available in this Add-On, which are listed below. In the future, this list will grow with a lot of handy extra’s, but for now, these are directly available:
Each type has its own inputs, selects and checkboxes. Most of them are optional, and some are required (depending on what’s selected). If something is required, you will see an asterisk (*) behind the label. When not all fields are filled in or incorrectly filled in, you will be notified.
Even die-hard Concrete5 fans (& developers) may come to know functions/options they haven’t even discovered themselves (yes, I am one of those…)!
A little extra to this Add-On, you can generate an encoded string along in the code. This encoded string can be used within the Add-On, to repopulate the whole form exactly the way you filled it in. So if you decide to change code generated with this nifty little Add-On, don’t waste time filling in the form, just copy/paste the encoded string, hit “Decode” and it’s back. You can even tell a co-worker what the code is doing this way, he/she can read it off of the form. Sharing code without needing to explain, awesome.
Don’t forget to notify me of “missing” Code Helper Types. This Add-On should be able to provide much of the code you need for developing a theme or Add-On for Concrete5.
This Add-On is not meant to be able to do ALL scripting for you. It will only help you with bits and pieces. For creating themes and simple stuff like Singles Pages and such, it should do. If you want this Add-On to make a Google-ish website, Facebook-ish website or whatever, you will have to wait until the year 2038. Code Helper is only to help, you will have to do the rest.
