Scaling not working

Hello,
I'm trying to set the width and height in the edit window. I set them to 250 and 500, but after I save the slide displays the pictures at full size, not scaling them. When I reopen the edit window, I see that my width and height settings have been lost and replaced with the actual size of the pictures.
How can I impose scaling?

BTW. I do have a slideshow block which does handle automatic cropping AND resizing of images. Check it out at:

This add-on doesn't support automatic scaling of the images, they'll need to be manually scaled beforehand.
