Product List Setup
Permalink Browser Info Environment
So, I install eCommerce Express and then go to set up my product list. I click the add file button and then I'm taken to a file manager screen that is only displaying the image files in my Concrete files directories. Now I'm not selling pictures or images, I'm selling digital downloads of apps and I wondering how I'm going to create a product list, if the product list won't let me add anything but image files. Do I have to create an image file for every product, if those that don't have an image before I can add them to the product list? I, in fact, don't want pictures in my product list. I only want names of the products. Please let me know how I can solve this problem. There didn't seem to be anywhere in the settings section to take care of this problem. Or, if it's there, I didn't find it.
Also, I have files for download that exceed the Concrete 5 file manager's handling capabilities. I'm storing those files in a public directory on my server, and I'd like to provide a URL link to the file as opposed to going through the Concrete file manager interface that has files stored all over the server in different sub directories, upon sub directories. Do you have a solution for this.

I was afraid of the prior, an extra step, and more work, but I will try it and see how it works.
As for the latter, it makes sense, and I will try that as well.
Will let you know the outcome of both.
Thx, DWS

Just a suggestion after viewing this post. 1 line of code can be added to your theme to hide the ecommerce thumbnail image. That will then do what you're after. If that sounds like the answer, just add this line to your theme's CSS file (better than adding it to the add-on's CSS file which could get overwritten next time you update it):

As of now every item needs to have a product image which is how it was originally planned and adding the digital download option came in after. So what you can do is create a an image file with your product titles and use that as the product image.
Regarding the file sizes the links then will have to be hidden in a page that is only seen by paying customers. So what you can do is use the "Page as a Product" option and put the links in pages where these customers who paid can only see. Does that make sense?
