Need additional Documentation

Permalink Browser Info Environment
I've tried sending private messages but haven't gotten a response.

I purchased and are using Formify to create a online Scholarship application for a non-profit.
I have a URGENT NEED to allow applicants to be able to edit / update the record after they submit it. I see you can choose to "pass record id as url" but forgive me I'm stumbling as the next steps...

The documentation you have posted is good but I do have a few more questions.
For example... "what is magic mode?" You can toggle it on and off... but what does it do?

I just need a little guidance. and have a small amount of funding if you require it.

Thank you
Greg

Hi,
The ability to edit forms on the front end does not exist in Formify. It is not on the current Road Map for development either.

As to Magic Mode, this isn't fully documented yet, but the Magic Mode feature of Formify allows you to have any HTML form to be processed as a Formify Form (in terms of database storage and notifications).

Because the scholarship is funded every semester, applicants that received scholarship money need to update their grades and transcripts on their application.

How can I achieve this with Formify.

I have PM Justin twice now for help but he hasn't responded.

Is there someone that can help me with this. How much would it cost?
The Chat Strat Form 5.6 add-on (no longer supported) had this feature... it produced a url that the applicant could book mark and later edit. And yes Chad Strat no longer returns PM's either.
And because this is a redesign they naturally want this same feature...
Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Hi,
Right now, as I said there is no way to do that in formify.

On considering what you want to do, it is possible to make a record editable by the record owner in the permissions settings on a formify form and you can give a user very limited dashboard access to just the records in formify using member permissions, but you cannot limit the dashboard view to just their own record - they can view all other records so that approach won’t work.

However, whilst this may not work you could try th type of process outlined below.

Have a student create a member profile which gives them access to a welcome page with a formify form (the basic application).

Then create another page with new forms for each semester on a page which they can access when they login using their member profile. You can use a formify view template which only shows the record(s) owned by the user on that member only page so they can see their original application. It could also similarly be configured to show the semester by semester updates as they progress through the year.

On that page you could have a special amendment form where they input new details (such as address change etc) However, of course, this would have to be input into the original on the backend dashboard end by admin staff.

Now obviously these forms are not linked in the dashboard database. But an administrative viewer could login using that member profile from the dashboard to see the user’s application and semester by semester updates on a single page.

If you used advanced permissions then you could make it so any administrative staff could view and then add hidden comments that could only be viewed by other admin(s) rather than the student when viewing the page with their consolidated info.

It’s not as elegant as a single editable form but it might work.

Phil,

I thank you for trying to help. But unfortunately the client is used to how Chad Strat's Proforms worked and anything else will be a step back.

I really hope Justin answers my PM's and to help, the way so many other developers have helped me since 2011.

I am a front end developer / small web design shop that has purchased over $6000 in concrete 5 add-ons... and several thousand more in in fees to have developers help me customize their add-ons.

The c5 community and marketplace depends on small firms like my self to keep purchasing add-ons.

But since the core team moved on, add-ons in the marketplace have become limited.. thus the need for developers to help us customize things a bit.

Without this help the community will die... as designers like me get frustrated with the limits of the add-on options and turn to another CMS. In the end C5 will be a CMS for developers only. Web designers, like me, who depend on add-osn to assist them in the design will go elsewhere.

I firmly believe if Justin would write me back... we can find a solution that will help my client, make Justin a little bit of money and keep the concrete 5 community alive.

Thank you. i patiently await Justin's reply.
