Image display - resizing and cropping

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi

I'm considering buying this gallery block and have the following question:

Does the block display all the large display images cropped to the same shape? IE if you have a mixture of different aspect ratios, perhaps from different cameras - 2x3, 3x4; cropped square or otherwise; portrait or landscape oriented; does the block crop them all to the same shape?

All the examples I have found show the large display images at exactly the same aspect ratio, but perhaps this is an option and you can still display the original aspect ratio?

Thanks

Regards

Thanks for considering the Gallerific add-on.

The add-on currently crops all images to the same size, regardless of the shape (ie. portrait or landscape). However, it is possible to manually edit the cropping size to any dimensions you wish, by editing the "view.php" file. Just take a look at the following discussion:

Hope this helps.

Thanks JB

I run a photo competition, and for that an my other displays, it's important to retain the original aspect ratio of the images as prepared, that being an important part of their composition.

I can see the appeal for neat presentation, but the individual composition of each image is vital for my requirements.

Thanks again

Hi Pete,
You can manually disable the cropping of the large image by editing the view.php file:

On line 83, replace "outputThumbnail1" with "outputThumbnail2". This does the resizing without cropping.

Hope this helps.

Does this edit allow landscape and portrait format photos to be shown in their native formats?

I'm also thinking of buying Gallerific, but having had my fingers burned with a couple of other add-ons, I need to be sure I'm getting the right one!

Hi Malcom, currently the block automatically resizes all photos (portrait & landscape) to a set size. However, with a little bit of tweaking to the code, you can easily disable automatic cropping. See this thread:
