Sort images for display

Permalink Browser Info Environment
I noticed that a couple of other people have posted about sorting images. I am using the "custom" setting and have a need to have the images appear in a certain order. I can use the up/down arrows to set the right order in the edit page, but when the images are displayed they are in a random order. Also, each time I go in to edit the image list, I get a different order of the images.

Hoping that some code has been developed to help with this issue.

Thanks in advance!
Tom

Hi Tom,
The individual images should be saved in the order they're entered and also pulled out the same way. Do you have a URL where you've installed the block do I can take a look?

JB,
Wow..thanks for the quick reply.

The URL ishttp://www.level1az.com/index.php/gallery/...

The other problem I have is the title repeats itself on almost every image regardless of what I change it to.

Thanks
Tom

Hi Tom, the titles look ok for me. By default it should just use the file title from the File Manager (which you can change).
I've reloaded the page and the images stay in the same order. Does it only change when you edit the block or on each page load?

JB,

Yes the images reorder when I go into edit mode. I can rearrange the order and save, but if I go back into edit mode, they seem to get randomly reordered. When they display, they do stay in the order they were saved in.

Thanks,
Tom

I'll test it on Monday and try to replicate what you're describing. My initial thought is that the sort number isn't saving into the db for some reason, but will need to run some tests.

Can you please try something for me.

Open the packages/jb_gallerific/blocks/jb_gallerific/controller.php file and on line 80, delete that line (keep a backup of the file just in case). This should be:

$this->randomizeImages();

Upload the file again to your server and see if that resolves the issue you've been having.

Let me know how that goes.

JB,

This seemed to keep the images in the right order for a couple of times going back into the edit and moving photos. Then all of a sudden, the images started coming up in random order again.

Could it be that the retrieval from the database is not in the order in which the images were written. I have played around with some changes in controller.php, but still can't figure this out.

Thanks very much for your help on this.

It could be something with your underlying MySQL database - there's no code in the Gallerific addon that would just change the ordering of the images, unless they had been modified in some way. Not sure what else I can do on this one.
