Single Gallery not appearing on iPad

Hi! I am having a similar problem to the colleague having problems in iOS.
iPhone functionality is not so important (haven't even looked at it yet) but iPad is important for customer slideshows.
On iPad, (latest iOS, on two different models) the slideshow is not appearing unless in Portrait view, then sometimes only if I tap the arrows.
I do have cache turned off for development...

my theme is an override based on "Elemental" from the C5 team. I haven't messed with jquery or added anything in that area. (Not that skilled) I did install some other carousel/sliders to try out -but I'm not using them - could they be the culprits?

I have used this gallery before in 5.6, and for comfort and look it can't be beat!
