Is it possible to reduce the number of API usage?

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi, My sentence is strange because I am not good at English. sorry.

When we introduced the Location Map Add-on to our customers, they were very happy to introduce it to the site.
Thanks for making a great add-on.

The customer asked, "I'm in trouble because the Google API usage fee is high. Can I reduce the number of API usages?"
Is that possible with options etc.?

Thank you!

Hi there,

Google is going to count every time the map loads, and each map load is going to count towards their API usage.

There isn't a way to display the map and its markers without using Google's API every time.

The only way to reduce the number of times a map loads, is to simply have visitors view the map less. For example, is the map on many pages of the site, and could it be removed from pages where it isn't needed?

Another option is to remove the map from a page and replace it with a link such as 'View Map' (or maybe an image of the map), that a customer then clicks to visit another page to view the real interactive map. This then may reduce its usage to those visitors that _actually_ want to view the map, instead of those that are just browsing the site.

If some uses of the map are only using one marker, this can sometimes be replaced by a simple map embed (which you copy form maps.google.com and is free), instead of using the add-on.

If they have a high traffic site, and they using the map lots, they may just need to rethink how they are using it.

Also, your English is great, nothing strange at all!

Cheers

Thank you for the prompt reply, Ryan.
(I was posting with my personal account instead of this company account that accidentally purchased the add-on.)

I will propose to the customer.
Thank you for your reply.
