What is the difference between MailMonkey and MailChimp?

I was very happy with MailMonkey 1.1.6 installed in my Concrete5 installation.
Recently, I was notified that an upgrade to MailMonkey v2.0.0 was available. After a bit of trouble upgrading to MailMonkey 2.0.0, I came across MailChimp. Upon purchasing it, I realized that this addon was not from the MailMonkey folks. Darn.
I am wondering if the installation of MailChimp is preventing me from upgrading to MailMonkey 2.0.0.
What is the purpose of MailChimp, after all? Additionally, Why am I not able to upgrade to MailMonkey 2.0.0?
