We attempted to install Multiple Domains over a new install of Concrete5 5.7.5.9. We got the PHP 5.4 error message (the link goes to an older version of the documentation, btw). Installed PHP 5.4, Still getting the error message despite clearing cache and rebooting. While writing this ticket I Noticed the PHP still reads 5.3.3 though we actually removed that from the server. I'm going to post it in the forums because i now think it's a c5 issue, but if you have any experience/advice, we could use it.

I think your server is still running PHP 5.3 if you get this error. We are just checking the PHP version at the execution time, so I don't see any other reason for that.

Sometimes especially if there are multiple PHP versions installed on your server, you need to tell the instance which PHP to use. I don't think it's c5 issue either. C5 is not responsible for selecting the PHP version it runs under.

We are using some PHP 5.4 features which is why it is required. In the next version of c5 a newer version of PHP is also required by default. It is suggested to run at least 5.6 as the official support for older versions have ended which might possibly expose your system to possible security holes in previous versions of PHP.

Thanks for clarifying the situation.

We're in a situation where the decision-makers consider 5.4 bleeding edge as
far as security/reliability is concerned (not my choice - I don't know why
they think 5.3 would be rock-solid but 5.6 would be vulnerable, but I don't
swim at that depth).
