Ajax search results on a custom block template

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi,
Ive created a new page_list_plus template that displays my pages in the way i need them too but i also need to create a search results page that displays my results in this way and not just a list as output as default from the standard page_list_plus block.

I can get the search and search results blocks working when using the standard blocks, but as soon as i use my own template, the results block doesnt work. Im guessing i need to add additional code to my custom template to facilitate the ajax and general search function to work but im not sure where to start. Any suggestions?
thanks in advance,
J
