Pop ups too wide, close button hardly visible

Permalink Browser Info Environment
As others have reported, I cannot change the width of the pop-ups - it remains stuck at 300px in the settings box (though in reality it is 550px). This is far too large for the space on my site.

Also the close button is virtually invisible so currently the add-on is fairly unusable.

I have tried adding the bit of CSS previously posted to a previous request re close button but this has not made any difference.
