password protect install

Permalink Browser Info Environment
I have no idea how to install this after downloading the file. The instructions for add on that show online are not helping. I am a beginner and manage a basic concrete 5 website. What do I do with the various files included in the download?

Hi. Sorry for this late reply. You can proceed in two ways: manually (uploading the package by ftp) or automatically.
I would suggest checking the second way. You can see an how-to video here:
http://legacy-documentation.concrete5.org/editors/dashboard/add-fun...
at the end of the page.
If you prefer I'll give you detailed instructions for the manual upload.

Thanks
Regards

My issue is just that I have ordered and downloaded the add-on files to my computer but have no idea how to do the manual install you suggest as opposed to using FTP. I am already connected to the concrete5 community as shown in the video but I am not seeing any info on what to do with the downloaded files.

All I am trying to do is add a basic page, maybe 2 or 3, all password protected to this site that I created and manage.

If you connected your site to the concrete5 community you should see your site here:
https://www.concrete5.org/profile/projects/...

Click on your site, select "Page Password" on "Add item to this project" and click associate. After doing that, please visit the Extend Concrete5 page on your concrete5 dashboard (after logging in as administrator).

You should see the "Page password" package in the awaiting to install section. You don't need to manually upload files, just install the package from there. After doing that, you will see a new Page password section in your dashboard.

If you prefer to give me a temporary access to your site I can install the package for you.

Let me know if it still doesn't work

The problem is the concrete 5 site says I am not connected to the community (see below) but the website I am wanting to do the add on says I am connected and has a link which takes me to a Projects Page where I am given a list of logins to use. Something is odd maybe because my email address for the website is different than the community ... I don't know!!

I keep going in circles from there.

Dialogue Box with this comes up when i try to login to my PROJECTS page
"My concrete5 Sites

You have not connected any sites to the concrete5 community."

Yes if you could please go in and install it that would be appreciated. I have created a user login for you.

I would also need an ftp login to install it manually. You are right: the plugin is not available to install automatically. Unfortunately you should ask to the concrete5 support for this connection problem as it is not related to this package.
I would suggest you to upload the page_password folder (extracted from the page_password file you already downloaded) in the packages folder on your website, so that you should have packages/page_password containing all other files.

Thanks

OK thanks. I am waiting to get the ftp login ... at that point if I am able to upload the password_protect files I have are you still able then to put them where they need to be?

I will also contact concrete 5 about the missing plugin.

Hi, exactly with an ftp login you can just upload the page_password folder containing the files you downloaded and enable it in the add functionality section.

Thanks

I have successfully added the files using ftp and have installed the add on. I now have a page created with the password protect option added as well. How do I create the interface for viewers to login to view the page? At this point if I try to access the page using the url, because it is not part of the site navigation, I get a PAGE NOT FOUND

Hi, it seems like the package did not install correctly. Anyway I logged in with the credentials you provided me previously and created the page password request. Now it seems to work ok.

Let me know if there is any problem
