Just found this, and haven't had a chance to install or look at the code, but my immediate thought is this is basically a "real" history breadcrumb trail, and probably (with a custom template) could be used as such a breadcrumb trail (rather than the "fake" ones we have that really only show where in the tree/path you are). I've always thought a true history breadcrumb trail is much more useful.
