I noticed that the icons are lighter, and only when you roll over do they highlight.

How could I reverse this, so that the icons are dark and they lighten when rolled over?

You can do this by adjusting the CSS in this file:

/packages/defunct_social_icons/blocks/defunct_social_icons/view.css
