just don't understand the note

Permalink Browser Info Environment
hi,
i'm starting with concrete5, and I don't understand how to realise what you say in the note : add a thumbnail to your page type properties at custom attributes with the handle 'page_thumbnail'.
For each page that appear in the Thumbviewer, I have to go to the Page Properties menu, in the custom properties section, and then...?
I know this is a simple operation, but I don't figure out what is the connection between the Concrete5 panel and the code.

At dashboard->pages&themes you can add custom page properties. Simply add one type 'image' and use the handle 'page_thumbnail', name it like you want.
When adding a new page beneath that should get listed in the thumbnail template you go to that pages properties and choose the attribute from the dropdown.

as I said, it was just a simple operation. Thx for the answer, and for the add-on. I'll share the link to the new website when ready.

Hey

Its a real shame this add on doesnt come with clearer instructions on just how to get it to work.
It is probably just me but I have added the custom attribute so that when i create a new page I can select this from the dropdown, which then gives me the option to select one image. BUT, surely this isnt it? and how do i get it to illustrate on the page correctly? Do i need a new page type too with a new editable area added to accept this new attribute?
Apologies if this is me being stupid but i really cant seem to get this sorted :(

well, use the free page properties addon to display it on the page itself.

The addon covers a thumbnail view for the page list block and displays each thumbnail thats assigned to a page in a page list.

I don't understand how to get this to actually work. I created the custom attribute, assigned a thumbnail to a page but I don't understand how I am to get this to display in the thumbnail page. Any help would be great!

This looks like a great add-on but the instructions are not clear and not complete!

I select a new page list and it is just the same as a normal page list, no thumbnail images!

have you tried to use the 'thumbnail' template after adding the page list?

How do I use the 'thumbnail' template? I have no way of selecting it after adding a page list, well no way that I can see anyway.

get familiar with the system ;)

after you added the page list, click on it and then use 'choose template'.

Ahhh I see, it all makes sense now! I've never had to use the custom template.

I am familar with the system, well at least I thought I was! Thanks for that, you learn something new everyday!

Thanks!

Hi there,

I have the page list and custom theme working... but I don't know how to assign a thumbnail to a page. Can you explain? Attached is what it looks like now. I have image sets uploaded to each of these pages.

Thanks!

I'm running into the same problem. I've gone through all of the steps, but am not getting the thumbnail pictures to show up, only text.

Hi there,

sorry for the late reply.
The trick is to create a custom attribute image for your page type with the handle 'page_thumbnail'. You then assign an image to your page and it will show up.

I will add further instructions to the package soon.

Thanks
Ron
