Thank you for bringing the iPhone issue to my attention.
Concerning Zooming, that's not something that Touch Gallery does I'm afraid. I think Thumb Gallery which is free (http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/thumb-gallery) and Grid Gallery (http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/grid-gallery1) both have some kind of zooming functionality.
