Tweeting from a Blog

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hey - my aim is to use concrete 5 with a blog addon - such as the pro blogger. I need this blog function to automatically create tweets for each blog posting. Does the tweeter block do this with any of the blog mechanisms? or does it only post up new pages etc? Does anyone know? As I dont want to buy a blog tool that then doesnt work with tweeter.

Thanks in advance

Hi, I'll try to get hold of the Pro Blogger guys and ask them how they create their posts.

Tweeter simply hooks the page create/edit function in Concrete5 as a trigger to generate a Tweet so if they create a normal C5 page it should work

that would be fantastic if you can - reason is fyi I really want to get clients onto concrete 5 and off wordpress but hooking c5 into twitter and then facebook is key. Thanks for your help.

Hi Toby, the author of Pro Blog responded pretty quickly with:

"ProBlog uses the add page function. which should fire that event. unless a special function is needed to fire that event, it should be fine."

So based on that I'd expect Tweeter to be OK with Pro Blog. You have a month to sort any issues out during which you can get a refund from C5 Marketplace anyway I believe so you should be fine to experiment then bin it if you encounter problems.

Good luck, let me know how it goes or if I can be any further help!

Hi Surefyre,

firtst of all: very nice block, it's simple and does the job perfectly!

I have a small problem though which relates to this discussion: It seems that Tweeter does not work with the add/update implementation (in the dashboard) of the Easy News Block ->http://www.concrete5.it/docuwiki/doku.php?id=packages:easy_news...

do you know if there is an (easy) fix for that? I don't know much about programming ...

thanks for a hint!

Well, to send a Tweet Tweeter actually hooks the 'official' C5 add/update
event so if Easynews doesn't fire that event it would certainly not send out
a Tweet.

You're the only enquiry I've had about this and I'm not sure investigating
it is going to be a high priority to be completely honest. I would, however,
be interested to know what the outcome of asking the Easy News guys to fire
the C5 event was. I'd think that would be easier for them to do (and make
good sense, too, as other addons must use the event too, you'd think)!

Do let me know though I can't promise anything in this instance, for now.

Ok,

the guy form the News-Block didn't answer, so I use the Blog-Block which runs perfectly with your block ...
