I must be a total moron

Hello! (see subject line)

I purchased City Night and the this add-on, added a block to the main, set a background, and a video.

Now I'm like duh.... Is there something else I'm supposed to do? Do I need to modify the theme?

OK, you can't use the "Share" URL, you know, the one that is like "youtu.be..." you have to use the actual Youtube.com URL. That's thing 1. Thing 2, I have not figured out yet, is how to removed the existing background image. For instance, I can replace the City Night background image with something else, but it still interferes with the video. For lack of a better solution I'm going to try a plain white JPG for the background, but I know there must be a better way! Someone mentioned altering the CSS ... Any pointers there?

Hi,
You're right, the "full" URL for YouTube needs to be used (not the abbreviated domain). And the background image needs to be removed in order for the YouTube Background to be visible (at it appears "behind" any background image). You can simply edit the CSS file for Night City (/packages/jb_nightcity/themes/jb_nightcity/main.css) and add this line of CSS code:
#backstretch{
display:none;
}

Hope this helps.

You must have updated the name of the css file, there isn't a main.css now.

Do I replace /*background: url(images/default.jpg) no-repeat 0 0 #ffffff;*/ with backstretch or what?

Hi

You can also try removing the backstretch code. If you go to this file /packages/jb_night_city/themes/jb_night_city/elements/header.php at line 22-25. Either you remove those lines or comment it out like this.

<script type="text/javascript">
   // $.backstretch("<?php  if ($c->getAttribute('bg_image')){ echo($c->getAttribute('bg_image')->getVersion()->getRelativePath()); }
 //    else{ echo(''.$this->getThemePath().'/images/default.jpg'); }?>", {speed: 750});
</script>
