Dynamc images to autonav menu

Is it possible to add a different image for each primary menu item in the auto-nav menu? For example adding an image to a page which shows up on hover in "edit auto-nav". If it's not a built in feature, how would we go about adding it?
We have achieved this manually by adding this line of code below via using the right click page + inspect the navigation menu. Example in attached image.

SLR, didn't noticed this. Anyhow, you need to create a custom template for that.
