Install question

Permalink Browser Info Environment
This is my first attempt to use a Responsive theme. I installed a new version of Concrete 5.6 on my sever, however I selected the demo version. I will create new pages once I learn how to select the Casual Theme and Page Types.

The Casual Theme package has been installed, but I do not see it under Themes. No doubt I have missed some step in the installation.

Help!

Hi Todd,

The theme should appear in the themes page once its installed. Did it say it was successfully installed?

Is it alright if you grant me access to your site temporarily so I can check?

Also, sometimes installation gets a bit clunky if your /packages folder does not have the right permission.

Regards.

Sure, the site on my "test server" ishttp://www.toddcary.com/gbrc_new/

User: Ttester
PW: Tester:1234

Permissions are 775
Owner: apache
So that should be fine.

No problem for you to access the site.

About permissions, they are set to 775 with apache as the owner -- as the other "learning site" on my server:www.www.toddcary.com/greaterbendrotary/... . This new site on which I want to get some Responsive experience ishttp://www.toddcary.com/gbrc_new .

Earlier this morning the Internet was down for our city -- appears to be back up.

Hi Todd,

The theme is installed correctly, but your site has no content. If you edit the home page - click on design - then select Casual, you'll see the theme applied to your home page.

The theme doesn't come with any content, but if you install concrete5 with the default Greek Yoghurt content, then apply the theme - it will give you dummy pages and content to work with.

Kind regards

Rob

Will the Greek Yogurt have the Responsive characteristics?

Hi Todd,

Yes, the theme will be responsive once you apply the the casual theme. Try it out and let me know how it goes.

Regards.

Hi Todd,

To clarify my earlier post. The greek yogurt theme is not responsive but it has content. When you install concrete5 initially, you are given the option to install it with sample content (using greek yogurt). After installation, apply the casual theme.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Regards.

As a result of your patient help, I now have a "play ground" where I can learn about Responsive website implementation:http://www.toddcary.com/gbrc_new/.... One item I noticed is that the Casual does not provide a footer with the ability to login. I assume that is left to me to place on the Header or some other place via an entry in single_pages, yet to be done.

With great appreciation...

Todd
