Theme customization - Cache reset

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Good afternoon -

While trying to work with this theme - I have made some customizations to the theme (through the 5.7 interface - not via ftp) and each time I make a change the site goes blank white and I have to clear the cache for the site to come back up.

I think when making a change or two this isn't that big a deal, but when trying to fine tune something - going back and forth is a pain.

Is this a 5.7 bug? or something with this theme? Has anyone else had this complaint?

Please advise.

Thanks!

Craig

Hi, the customization and Less compiling piece can take concrete5 5.7 quite a bit beyond the 64M memory requirement we have found, depending on how customizable the theme is.

Please try this advice, and let us know how you go on.

Thank you. That makes a lot of sense.

However, I have this installed in a subfolder on my root. Whenever I change ANYTHING through ftp it reverts to the root "live" website. Are we not allowed to change any of the files through ftp with 5.7 or is this a problem with my site? The root is currently an installation of 5.6.2.1.

Thoughts?

Not sure I follow that to be honest but nothing is locked down, in concrete5 or our theme package. If the change I suggested is not working, either your php in locked down, or something else server related is going on.

If you can provide more details we will do our best to assist, and if we think it is a server issue, we'll obviously inform you of that too.

Sorry if I was a bit cryptic -

I am developing a new site in a subfolder on my current site - only this time I am developing it with 5.7 (the current is running 5.6).

Whenever I make a change to any of the files (and refresh to see the changes) it jumps back to the live site's homepage. This is probably a "me" problem and not a "you" problem.

I may just contact my hosting provider and ask them to raise the memory limit to 256mb for this domain.

It's standard to need to set DIR_REL in your config when running in a sub directory. Have you done this. I think in 5.7 it is done in app.php but you should consult the documentation on concrete5.org
