columns following foundation grids inside a single column layout?

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi,

Is it possible when adding multiple columns inside the layout of a single column on the arizona theme to make those internal columns follow the grid rules?

Attached are two screenshots. In the first screenshot you see a 5-column attempt to add space to the left and right of a freeform area with 60pts spacing between each column. that didn't work. The second screenshot shows that spacing in effect in the edit container layout interface

If I cannot do that, can I set up a 3-column row like at the top of screenshot 1 on multiple areas with differing color backgrounds (like what I am attempting to do with this primary area inside "main"... or do I need to do that with code on the backend?

thanks a billion. You guys are awesome.

I believe you can add layouts to an exiting layout, although this is not specific to this theme. The layout tool is core functionality and not something we have a great deal of control over unfortunately.

I am not 100% clear on the type pf layout you are trying to achieve but if the core layout tool can not handle this then it may be a case of you building a custom page template.
