Form submission and email

Permalink Browser Info Environment
We cannot get a form to email out. If we use a valid email address from our domain, it gives "The email address '*******@kckpd.org' is not valid.". If we use an external valid email address it gives "The following error was found while trying to send the test email:
Permission denied." The server is capable of telnetting out and hitting and sending on the email server, and this behavior is exhibited using the php mail function or the SMTP function. Any ideas?
