pushing footer content to the absolute bottom (removing copyright and login)

Hi,

I have a background image in custom CSS located at the bottom of the footer-bottom area. It is flush with the bottom of that and fills width as I want. I have also sucessfully removed the copyright and login includes so they do not show up. However, I am having trouble getting my background image to extend down behind the area that contained the copyright and login includes (It leaves that are empty beneath the bottom of the image).

I am not looking for CSS help in this, but for a pointer or two with something else. Am I possibly not setting this image in the correct place to get absolute bottom? Should I remove the copyright and signin php files from their directories (Are there hidden areas that possibly do not display if the files are gone)?
