Unable to save customization changes to entire site

Permalink Browser Info Environment
I have found a bug that is in some respects minor, but could become quite a nuisance in time. When you try to customize your site under Design/Theme/Customize, you are unable to save a change to the Entire Site but only to a page at a time. If you select to save the change to the entire site, you lose the change completely.

I just this minute upgraded my live site to C5.7.3 from 5.7.1 and the problem has gone! Sorry to cause the developer what appears to be unnecessary angst.
The problem persists, however, on my localhost, which is also running 5.7.3. Since I have other problems on my localhost site, I must conclude that the problem resides locally.

As I lay awake last night thinking about this issue, I wondered to myself if Windows Update KB300893 might have something to do with it. So just uninstalled it, and bingo. Changes now occur sitewide.
