Cache Problem

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi

I've installed your theme on a fresh concrete5 (newest version).
http:///www.wellbella.ch

The image slider and some other elements on the site are not displayed correctly and/or are misplaced.

If I deactivate the block cache, everything works fine. Is here a way to fix this without disabling block cache?

Second question: Is there a way to customize the "Read more" Button? The whole site is going to be in german.

Hi

Thanks for using my theme.

Usually when I get issues like yours, a simple clear cache would fix it. Let me try and see if I can replicate the issue.

I believe the read more is extended from the core image slider block. So you may need to change that manually. But let me double check.

Thanks for looking into the issue. Clearing the cache doesn't help (the page is displayed correctly only the first time after clearing the cache. As soon as it's loaded into cache, it's displayed incorrectly).

Another question: Doesn't your theme support PHP 7.2? I got some errors, when trying to edit a site under PHP7.2. PHP7.1 works fine. No big issue for me, but I'm wondering, if it's the theme or something else not supporting it.

Hi

Thats kinda odd. Only core C5 will have issues with system requirements and the theme just extends the styles and existing blocks. Can you try installing C5 and the theme on your local machine and see if issues still persists?

I am guessing the the problem is closely related with the PHP issue you mentioned. Maybe C5 has some issues with your hosting?

Kind regards,
James

Hi there.

I tested your theme on another installation with another hoster (Several of my concrete 5 websites are hosted there with no problems):

http://wellbella.itroy.ch/index.php...

Same caching issues.. including the error "count(): Parameter must be an array or an object that implements Countable" when using PHP 7.2 (mentioned in my last message).

I also switched the theme to another one for testing pruposes regarding the PHP 7.2 issue. Other themes work fine without any errors when trying to edit the site.

The PHP issue isn't that big of deal because I can manually change it to Version 7.1, but the chaching issue is a big problem..

I hope we can fix this..

Update: Disabling block cache for the sliders only (Advanced -> Caching -> Override Block Type) "fixes" the problem. The caching problem seems to come from the slider module I guess.

Maybe that points you in the right direction..

Hi James,

Do you need any further information? Do you need a concrete5 login for my website? Or do you think this is unfixable?

I really need to know, if the caching problem can be fixed or not. I need to finish the website in the coming weeks, with or without your theme :/

Still hoping for a easy fix, because I really like your design.

Hi

Maybe the google map JS is blocking other scripts from loading? The google map sample content is probably throwing an error because of the new gogole auth. Can you try removing that and see if it fixes it? Or change it to something you will be using.

Hi James,

The issue persists after removing the Google Maps block.
See here:http://wellbella.itroy.ch/index.php...

In fact, the issue is present even with only using one slider block and everything else removed:
http://wellbella.itroy.ch/index.php/home2...

And with block caching for the slider deactivated, it works fine:
http://wellbella.itroy.ch/index.php/home2-1...

Regards,
Oliver

Sorry I cant find anything wrong with the slider. The slider used on the theme is the core c5 slider with the style extended.

I’ll issue you a refund if you want to switch theme.

I'll try to use your theme with block caching activated for the slider modules. No need for a refund. Thanks.
