I have the same problem !
I thought it was because I moved my Genesis licence from a project to another, but it seems that this is not the issue.

Genesis is a great theme, I've been using it several times and I'd like to continue with it !

I can’t reproduce the problem on my end. Can you try downloading a free theme from the marketplace and see if the same issue occurs.

Also, please check if your package directory has the correct server permissions. Also try disabling caching option if it helps.

I have tried with Elemental and Stucco, and with both themes, it is possible to customize the template.
I have also checked another website where Genesis is installed, and it appears to have the same problem. This is new, before it was possible to change and customize the template...

After checking server permissions, that are ok, i'm wondering if you have any idea of what is happening with the theme customize area which is still not working and the version 8.5.4 of C5.
The other website that i'm managing also with Genesis is still with the 8.5.2 version and has the same issue (which was not the case some weeks ago).

When Genesis Theme version 1.1.9.3 was newly installed in 8.5.4, the top page was displayed and improved, but it is not improved in 8.5.2 → 8.5.4.
I uninstalled the Genesis Theme package from the updated site 8.5.2 -> 8.5.4 and installed and applied the latest 1.1.9.3, but it doesn't improve and the design edits are not displayed and left blank.

I apologize but I can't reproduce this problem. The error is saying that the mixins.less is missing but you can find it in the theme's css/build folder. Can you check if your themes package has all the necessary files?

1. Install the Brimstone Theme only on the new concrete5 8.5.4 site and click "Are you sure you want to clear this site?" → "Reset site contents with package contents." (OK)
2. If you install Brimstone Theme or Genesis Theme on the new concrete5 8.5.4 site and change the theme, the design changes will be blank.
It is the same situation even if you delete unnecessary Theme. (NG)
3.concrete5 Even if I install either Brimstone Theme or Genesis Theme to the site updated to 8.5.4, the design becomes blank. (NG)

From the above, it seems that there is a high possibility that a new concrete5 site will work normally but a site that is in operation will have a problem.
Rebuilding the site each time the concrete5 body is upgraded is very time-consuming and difficult.

But, on the other website, which is older, the custom area is still blank...

I am having the same issue. I had it on a different site from another developer as well. He fixed his theme and here is what he had to say, hope it helps.

*** The bug revolves around the use of the "type" element in customiser settings, if all 5 types are not declared you get the bug if all 5 are there you don't, this didn't matter in earlier versions of C5 but appears to now be mandatory in 8.5.4+, what you are looking for is the use of "-text-type-" variable in the presets.less file of the theme, there should be 5 types that all relate to the same text element, for example, I have enclosed the code I use in Modena below, unfortunately, the naming of variables is down to individual devs so no guarantee they will be called the same things, or grouped together for that matter, the only thing that will be the same is the use of "-type-text-" somewhere in the variable.

I looked for a presets.less file in the genesis theme folder, but could not find one. The closest I found was a presets folder with a file called defaults.less. I copied the code there, but it did not work. I'm not sure where else to look.

When is the update push for Genesis going to happen? I really need to get this tool back.

I apologise for the delay. I have uploaded version 1.9.4 which should fix the problem. I am marking this ticket resolve because the issuer of this ticket is no longer having this issue.

Please create a different ticket if issue still exists.
