504 Gateway time-out error on install
Permalink Browser Info Environment
I want to install a pixel theme using sample data, but I get a 504 Gateway time-out during installation.
I tried changing the settings in php.ini and clearing the site cache, but it didn't improve.
How can I install with sample data included?

Thank you for your reply, shahroq.
As advised, I checked the items.
>36. Verify whether the theme has been installed, upgraded, or uninstalled completely
→I can't find any of the four messages.
>37. Theme is not installed or upgraded completely
→Increased max_execution_time from 300 to 600. The site cache was cleared.
And I tried the installation again, but I get a 504 Gateway time-out error.

The lack of those msgs means the theme is not installed properly. You can do these steps to make 100% sure whether the issue is caused by `max_execution_time`:
1. First reinstall the theme without the sample contents and check if the corresponding msg shows up.
2. If so, reinstall the theme again, with sample contents. Then check `Dashboard > Sitemap` and see whether any of the sample pages are already there. At this point, you should be able to see some of the pages, though not fully imported and might empty. If that's the case, it indicates your server needs more time to import and build the pages. The theme contains a huge number of sample pages and the process patently expected to take time on shared servers, so give it a bigger execution time, temporarily, and try again.
3. If the problem persists, send me your site credentials and I will take a look.

Thank you for contacting us. The problem didn't go away, so I sent the site credentials to a private message. We apologize for the inconvenience, but please check.
I'm having the same issue (500 Error/Internal Server Error). I even set max_execution_time to 300 in the hostgator panel. Although after looking though hostgator's documentation it seems their max_execution_time limit is a maximum of 30 seconds so if increasing that value is required it's not possible with HostGator's shared hosting packages.

Worked around this issue by installing XAMPP on my local machine to install and setup the website and Pixel 2 theme and it worked fine. I'm guessing it would of worked fine with the default execution time (120) in XAMPP but I set it to 300 just in case. Will just move it to my Hostgator shared hosting once I'm done setting everything up.

Plz, check the `Instructions` page #36-37.
