Homepage V2

Permalink Browser Info Environment
My new homepage doesn't need the bottom grey and bottom white row. But even if I dont add content or blocks, it still shows when published! How can I NOT show rows that I don't need?

Hi,

Those areas are not optional in the Salix theme. So to get rid of them, you can create a custom page template for Home V2. If you copy home_v2.php which is located in the salix folder under themes in your Salix package:

salix\themes\salix

Then rename it and delete the relevant sections. There are quite a few editable areas in that theme and the code is quite complicated due to background images, so if you would like me to advise which lines to delete, please describe to me what content is in the sections you want to get rid of in the demo below:

http://salix2.pilipalawebdesign.com/page-types/home-v2...

Then you need to upload your new page template and go to the Dashboard > Pages and Themes > Page templates. You should see your new page template listed there and just click "Ok" to install.

Adding areas that are optional is explained in this thread here:

Please ensure that you save your new custom template elsewhere so that you don't lose it when you update your theme.

Thanks,

Jennifer
