Adding Slideshow to Homepage

I saw that to add a vignette -- you have to add a vignette to to the header area, but how can you do this via the CMS? I can only edit the Search Area, CTA Area.. nothing for 'header'.

If I am being too dense, sorry, I have been at work for 11 hours and my brain is fried.

make sure you have all your page types installed by going to "pages and themes". Hit "inspect" on the theme and install any missing page types.

When your homepage is in edit mode, click the design tab and change the page type to "homepage".

Now you should have a header area :)
