Cache problem with existing site hosted by HostGator

Hello,

I have a website based on a theme purchased from Concrete5 - by formigo. The website crashed and HostGator sent me the following message:

"I apologize, but I was forced to suspend the script /home/liam/public_html as it was causing a high load on the server, and due to it affecting all of the other accounts on the system, I was forced to take immediate action for the health of the server.

Unfortunately I do not have any specific recommendations for this script, however, in general, adding some sort of caching mechanism, where the script does not need to generate a new page with every request, helps to lower the over load that a script will cause. Likely the original author or support group of the software that you are using will be able to help you to understand how to add something of this nature."

I really need to fix this and HostGator have been unable to help. Please advise.

Many thanks,
Liam

You need to tell us more about the site: url, traffic levels etc.

Is the loading a result of high traffic on a site with normal resource usage for each request, or high resource usage for each request and low traffic?

Did you have cache turned off in the dashboard?

Hello amurphy,

I often see excessive crawling by robots, get a site suspended. Using a robots.txt file can limit where they crawl, this site explains how to set it up:

Also, your host should be able to provide more specific information on the cause.

I hope this helps,
John-Paul
