RE: Help on moving my site live

I'm sure this question has been asked a 1000 times. But here goes. I've finished my lovely Concrete5 website. I'm ready to move it live. I've been working off my www server as I don't have an in-house server. I use bluehost. They are of no help and don't have a service to move it live. So I'm stuck. And they are stumped too. Why are they recommended here?

1. This is what I have done. I've read moving a site live on Concrete5.org, and I have made a copy of the database as recommended using MyphpAdmin on Bluehosts Cpanel. And also one using the Systems & Settings area on Concrete5 Dashboard. Which seems to be far easier and faster than the MyphpAdmin. Whether or not it's the same thing, I don't know.

2. I have no idea what to do next. I see the concrete5 Folder on my ftp, but don't even know what to do now. I can delete my old site, that's up there now. I have a copy of it.

So I just need to know exactly what to do now. It says get the correct files. That tells me nothing. Specially for a designer. HTML is such a simple snap compared to this way of building a website and moving it live. So I'm very confused it's all so new. Too bad there is not an add on that can just move the site live for novices with a few steps. I'm sure someone would make a killing off of it if it could be done.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you built your site in a subfolder of your live site this tutorial should help.

Thanks for the link. I have done this yet again and still no luck. The home page doesn't want to show the graphics and links on the page will not work. The auto nav however, works.

The graphics show on the rest of the site though. Just not the home page. I have pretty urls turned off and cleared the cache. I will turn it all off and see if it helps.

Thanks for the tips.

So your site is live and in the correct place, but the graphics are not showing up? Have you checked your site/config.php to see if your BASE_URL or DIR_REL need to change?

If you provide a link it would be much easier to help you troubleshoot.
