Simplicity > Page Types

Sorry if this is not directed correctly or slightly incoherent - new Concrete5 user (though some of that incoherence existed previously ;) )

I find I am reusing a particular page type, with specific blocks and items from my scrapbook. I want to save this as a template. I tried adding a new page type but there is no "add to main' block. Can I create a page and do something like 'save this as a template' or can someone explain the process in toothless baby sized bites?

Thanks.

You can certainly setup page type defaults. By this I mean, you can set it so that for a page type, when a new page is created, certain blocks with settings and content you specify are already in the page.

For example, unless you hard code in your nav, this is probably how you would ensure your client or yourself didn't have to add the nav to each page they create.

To do what I have described:

1. Login.

2. Dashboard.

3. Pages and Themes.

4. Page Types.

5. Click Defaults next to the relevant page type.

6. In the top left click 'Edit Page'.

7. Edit page and setup the defaults your require.

8. Exit edit mode as normal.

Hope that helps. FYI there are more tricks, such as if you want to change something on pages already created, you can click on a block in edit mode and choose setup on childs.

Good luck!

Thanks. I started out orignally by going to page type and 'add a new page type.' This resulting page was the onme with no main content area so I guess I must have to copy the underlying php template or something like that. The way you suggested does work - thanks.
