Can't Access File Manager

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Currently, I've set things up and allow all File Manager Permissions to a group called "File Manager Administrators", but when I tried to log on with a user from that group and accessed File Manager through link:http://url/dashboard/files/search... , it showed error: "Not Authorized". I'm using this method because I can't find link into File Manager anywhere because this user is not in "Administrators" group. How to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance.

I suspect that the task permission gives them access to the file manager via content adding and editing, but you still need to give them permission to view the dashboard page. To do that, go to your sitemap, click options, check the box for show system pages--now you should see a directory called "Dashboard" in the sitemap, click to expand, then click on the file manager, choose set permissions, and give that group/user permission to view. That should do the trick.

Thanks Julia,

I'm having a similar problem. I am admin for a group website where each member has their own page. As I assign each member their page I am making them the owner of the page, hence allowing me to presumably use the "page owner" user object to allow a member to change the content and access the file manage only when they are on the page they "own." Trying the advice given to jazzyhacker. Gave permissions per your instructions to the page owners but I am not sure if I have allowed them enough for them to see the Dashboard and use the File Manager.

Thanks

Mark

Here are more instructions on granting permissions for various dashboard pages:

Also check out file manager and task permissions:

Hope that helps!

Spot on Guides...
I used a "model" user as a member of a group. Followed the guides provided here and "ta da" it works. I've done a few exceptions already which seem to be working fine. Will probably add a few more carefully.

Thanks Julia.
