Edit Area Splitter Block un-edittable

I recently encountered an unusual issue with the "Edit Area Splitter Block". The content area is fine, but I can no longer left-click on the "Edit Area Splitter Block" to edit. Hence, I can no longer change the spacing, column width, etc. Any ideas?

I must add that I am not a developer, just a content manager.

is it a bug or that's the way the area splitter works ?
i also want to buy this add-on but i'll wait for the answer.
