Since I use an altered db.xml (along with several manipulated files to suit my site) it would be nice to be able to make all changes to the files before actually upgrading from one version to the next. Is it possible to do an upgrade via download instead from the dashboard? I might have missed that info if it's common knowledge, so if anyone has suggestions then please share.

Fortunately I had a db backup to rollback to, but since I don't have a development machine the downtime (approx 2hrs) is pretty annoying for each upgrade, so it would be nice to download the upgrade to another location, make all changes and then install it.
