Helping Out

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi...

I'm interested in helping out on this. I see that it's hosted on github.

How open are you guys to updates? I'd like to create a file element type, which it seems are in the plans anyways. But I'd also like to add some things that might be beyond your intention of scope, like the ability to repeat the block (so the block will actually print out multiple sets of the templated data) and the ability to do more specific templates (to, e.g., hide labels if the data isn't provided).

I haven't fully evaluated the amount of effort involved yet (vs creating a one-off block from scratch), so I'm not sure on my final course of action, but thought I'd investigate.

Hi James,
Thank you for your offer to help! Right now I'm about to release version 2.0, so I don't want to make any changes until that gets out there (should be any day now -- just waiting on some language translations now). But after that I'd be happy to have some help with this. Although at this point I consider it fairly feature complete (for example, I've already added a file field as part of 2.0, and hiding labels when there's no data as you suggest has always been in there -- just use the "Wrapper HTML").

I'm not sure I understand how the "repeating block" idea would be used, but would love to talk to you more about it some time soon. Also, I have another idea for an image gallery generator that is a bit more complex but sounds like it might be similar to what you're talking about.

If you want to PM/email me some more details about your "repeating template" idea that would be great.

Thanks!

-Jordan
