How to stop macrons disappearing when cache is cleared

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can help me here. I have created a block using designer content. The block works great so much easier than anything else I have found. Just one problem:

Our clients a cultural client and as such has need for many macrons being used through their wordings. This is fine if its entered through a normal content block or hard coded to the site. However, when used in conjunction with a 'designer content' block upon clearing the site cache the macrons are removed from the text in these areas and replaced with question marks. (see screenshots below).

Can anyone help?

This has now been solved, I found that the blocks tables in the database were being created with a different character encoding (Latin-1) So i have changed these to UTF-8 and works a charm!

Hope this helps someone else!
