I want to believe!!! - Issues with CSS Theme and eCommerce Express

Permalink Browser Info Environment
I'll start of admitting my skill level is low. But, from what I can tell there is some significant CSS issues with eCommerce Express and the theme I'm using. Since I started with the theme and eCommerce Express is secondary -- I'm not really able to start over at this point.

Here is the link:

It seems that the script functions well, but I'm unable to control the aesthetics. I don't want to make any major changes to the code as we'll have to do that everytime there is an update -- which is not possible for us.

If there isn't something we can do to fix this, can I request a refund?
As I mention - the function seems fine.

An oddity I did notice is that it is showing the cart, in addition to products, when I select "Express Product List" - If that's a clue to an easy solution.

Hi

It looks like a css conflict. Due to the modularity nature Concrete5 add-ons and themes this scenario happens often not only for eCom Express but other add-ons as well. Unfotunately we cannot give you a refund as this add-on works. Good news is we can offer you a paid customisation to get the skin correctly, I'm guessing this will take an hour @ $90/hr. This customisation will not be affected by future updates. Just let me know which email should I send the invoice to. If not there is a great community in the C5 forum where you can ask for help regarding general issues.

You are correct that it is functioning from the standpoint that when I add a product to the cart, it shows up in the cart. Part of the function is displaying correctly. I understand that you are not accepting responsibility for that as a result of it being related to CSS.

Do you have as structure or guide that a person can follow to make changes to the aesthetics, or are you implying that the additional $90 is the best way without documentation. If that is the case, this add-on is seemingly not very user friendly as concrete5 is attempting to accomplish.

I think the add-on is neat, but it definitely is not an add-on we can use the way it is packaged.

Definitely a great buy for someone else, unfortunately can't accomplish our goal and it was a bad purchase for us. If we do another site, in which this can be used out-of-the-gate, would you be able to transfer the "license" (as I understand them working on Concrete5) to that site?

AJ

Hi AJ, this is JB and I thought I'd chime in to get a quicker answer for you as JZ has finished for the day.

The vast majority of the time, all our add-ons will work perfectly smoothly with Concrete5 themes. We've designed our add-ons and themes to meet the best practices communicated by the Core C5 team. Because there are so many other add-ons and themes by 3rd party developers, not all of them will meet those standards.

However, all our add-ons and themes are coded very cleanly and sensibly which makes it very easy for anyone with CSS/HTML/PHP knowledge to change and customise as they wish. If customers find something is out of place and we can help them find the answer in a couple lines and they make the change themselves, then that support is free (even though it's outside the scope of what the C5 marketplace indicates - we always go above and beyond).

However, I understand that not all customers are fluent in website design, so we do offer paid training and customisation services to fill that need. As I'm sure you can understand, an add-on like eCommerce Express has taken hundreds of hours in development and support, which we fully stand behind, and you're able to purchase it for a very small amount by comparison.

If you want to take a stab at changing the CSS on your theme, JZ can definitely point that out for you (but it looks like the link you provided above is no longer online). There's a lot of great doco on the Concrete5 site to help new editors and designers get started:
http://www.concrete5.org/documentation...
http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/using-concrete5...

And if you need advice on where to learn CSS we are happy to even provide links for you to get you started. But if you need us to make the change for you, we can offer that as a billed service. If we find that the change takes less time, such as 0.5hrs, then it will only cost US$45. But if you find you have access to a cheaper web designer, you are also free to utilise anyone you wish, you're certainly not locked into us. From what you have described it sounds like a relatively easy adjustment to make.

If you wish to transfer a C5 license, here's a "how to" guide on the C5 site:
http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/how-tos/editors/release-an-a...

I hope this feedback helps, and please let us know if you have any other questions.
