We are releasing a major update to this add-on very soon which has a revamped tax system. However, I don't think it does individual state taxes at this point. However, you could do that with a little jQuery code on the page (adding it using an "HTML" block). It could get activated whenever the "state" field changes, and check if the state has a particular value, then to automatically update the tax value).

I'll take another look at our upcoming update and see if it's possible to integrate state-based taxes and come back to you.

I am looking for ecommerce to use in concrete5 and wanted to note that without state by state sales tax ecommerce software is pretty much unusable in the USA.

I understand it won't suit you at this point. But state-based sales tax is the next feature on our list. I just wanted to get the new version out the door as it had been held up for several weeks.
